Srijut Utpal Borah is a leading political figure from Bharatiya Janata Party of Assam. He was elected in Assam Legislative Assembly election in 2016 from Gohpur constituency.

He was born on 1st September, 1966. His parents were late Mahendra Nath Borah and late Late Gunala Borah.

He did his High Schooling at Kalabari H.S. School and studied H.S. (Science) at Cotton College and subsequently did B.E. in Electrical Engineering at Jorhat Engineering College.He is highly educated and industrious, dedicated and committed, amicable and honest and likewise hospitable and sociable person.

His aim in life is to serve B.J.P, to serve Gohpur and to serve Assam and the Nation.

Utpal Borah has been earnestly and unbendingly clinging to Bharatiya Janata Party since his joining as a party member and his political journey began as member of Bharatiya Janata Party in the service of the people of Assam and finally elected from the 78 no. Gohpur Constituency in Assembly Election 2016 from BJP.

His prime aim in life is to serve Gohpur constituency as well as Assam and the entire Nation.

His prime vision is to bring about a holistic development in all respects of social, cultural, economical, political, educational sectors as well as to bring peace and happiness irrespective of class, colour and religion.

His mission in life is to work wholeheartedly to empower Bharatiya Janata Party in fulfilling its entire dreams to make a unique Gohpur,a unique Assam as well as India.



BRIEFLY ABOUT GOHPUR


Gohpur is a beautiful town located in the Sonitpur district of Assam (India). Gohpur is located at 26.88°N 93.63°E.[1] It has an average elevation of 69 m (226 feet). The distance between Guwahati and Gohpur is 285 km by road and 266 km by rails. Aerial distance is 208 km.[2] Gohpur also connects Itanagar, capital of Arunachal Pradesh, via NH 15. Itanagar is only 31 km from Gohpur through NH 15A. It also connects to Majuli and Jorhat by ferries through the Brahmaputra. Gohpur town is located in the UTC 5.30 time zone and it follows Indian Standard Time (IST). Gohpur sun rise time varies -45 minutes from IST Gohpur was declared as sub-divisional town of Sonitpur district on 26th January, 2000. Situated at a distance of 134 km east of Tezpur, Gohpur is a place of glorious struggle of the people of the area for the freedom of the country where the martyrs Kanaklata Baruah and Mukunda Kakati were killed by Police firingwhile attempting to hoist the Indian national flag at Gohpur Police Station on 20th September 1942. As of 2001 India census, Gohpur has an average literacy rate of 72%, hhigher than the national average of 59.9%; male literacy rate is 77% whereas, female literacy rate is 66%. The major tribes residing in this area are Karbi, Boro, Mising, Deori, etc. Gohpur is a part of the Tezpur Lok Sabha constituency; Gohpur Legislative Assembly constituency is one of the biggest in Assam that spreads from Buroi to Hawajan in the North Bank of Assam. The native language of Gohpur is Assamese, Bengali, Bodo and in most of the villages people speak Assamese, Bengali and Bodo.


HISTORICAL FIGURE


Kanaklata Barua was born at Borangabari village of Gohpur in the year 1928. Her father was Krishnakanta Barua and mother was Konekoswari Barua. She was one of the most noteworthy Indian freedom fighters from Assam, she was shot dead while leading a procession to hoist the Indian national flag at the Gohpur Police Station during the Quit India Movement, on 20th September 1942.
